PHILOSOPHER’S STONE

The Sword of Damocles
Hangs perilously above
The ashes in your mouth
Will never harbor love

Your unleashed hurricane
But a storm in a teacup
A drop in the ocean
Is your diamond in the rough

You beat the howling air
Sow from the barren sand
Spend you wasted breath
Like the silver from your hand

Take the pennies from your eyes
Let your heart fall silent
The burning wings of Hope
Will quiet discontent

Dawn’s promises are true
But belief is a must
Or philosopher’s stones
Will turn gold into rust
